Ideas by type and budget

Eight kinds of outing, each with a guide price a head and the hours it needs. Pick a free window and a budget a head, and Vennado shows the ones that fit.

What a guide price is

Our estimate of what one person spends on the whole outing in a typical UK city, shown as a band. Lower-league football is £20–40 a head, which covers a ticket, a pie and a drink. It is an estimate and it is never live. The real price is the one on the seller's own site, which is where Vennado sends you to book.

What a budget a head covers

A plan has one budget a head: what each person is happy to spend on the whole outing. Set it for the person with the least to spend. Vennado leaves out any idea whose guide price starts above it.

Budget a head Guide prices that fit inside it
£25 Pub quiz and a round (£10–25), a board game café (£10–25), five-a-side and a pint (£8–20), a trampoline park (£12–25)
£40 Curry night (£20–40), bowling, arcade, burgers (£20–40), lower-league football (£20–40), a twilight nine (£15–35)
£80 The long lunch (£40–80), eighteen holes (£30–75), club rugby (£25–60), a day at the races (£30–80)
£160 A big cottage for the weekend (£80–160), a spa day (£60–130), top-flight football (£45–120), international rugby (£60–150)
£220 One night in a UK city (£120–220), lodges with a hot tub (£110–200)
£450 Two nights in a UK city (£200–350), two nights in a European city (£250–450), a stay-and-play golf break (£150–300)

The same money buys very different amounts of time. A budget of £80 a head is a generous lunch and well short of a night in a city, because a city break has to cover the train and the bed before anyone has eaten.

How ideas are matched

Each idea is checked against the length of the window, the time of day and year, the size of the group and whether children are coming. Nothing is suggested because someone paid for it to be. How Vennado works has the detail, who it is for covers friend groups, families and people on shifts, and the guides include planning a group trip on a budget.

Questions people ask

Are the prices on Vennado real prices?

No. They are guide prices: our estimate of what one person spends on that kind of outing in a typical UK city, shown as a band such as £20–40 a head. They show what a budget covers. The real price is the one on the seller's own site on the day you book, and it can be higher or lower than the guide.

Can different people in the group have different budgets?

A plan has one budget a head for everyone, which can be changed at any time. If people in your group have different amounts to spend, set it at what the person with the least is comfortable with. It is easier to add a round of drinks to a cheap plan than to take someone out of an expensive one.

Does Vennado show actual events, fixtures or tour dates?

No. There are no live event listings yet. An idea is a kind of outing, such as lower-league football or a comedy club night, with a guide price and the hours it needs. Each idea links out so you can search for the real thing near you and book it with the seller.

Why is an idea missing for our free window?

Usually because the window is shorter than the hours the idea needs, it is the wrong time of day or year, your group is too small or too large for it, or its guide price starts above your budget a head. Change the budget or pick a longer window and more ideas appear.
